Career
The short version.
Graduated college and turned down a job to chase what I thought was a million-dollar product idea. (Spoiler: it wasn't.) Hit a wall when I needed $10K+ for injection molds. Didn't have it. So I pivoted.
Used what I'd learned to start an ecomm business called Cache Creations, selling themed decoration packs for kids' birthday parties. Ran that for a few years.
Started consulting on the side. Picked up a month-long project with a startup marketing agency called Reel Axis. It snowballed into 5+ years. Worked my way up to Director of Marketing, leading a big team. Managed millions in marketing spend for enterprise tech clients.
Joined a venture-backed SaaS called Pandium as Director of Marketing. Put scalable systems behind marketing and ops, and grew qualified lead volume by 49%.
Went back to consulting. Most interesting client: Paperboy, where I helped bestselling authors, top 10 podcasters, and A-list actors grow their email newsletters.
Got an opportunity I couldn't pass up. Bought ReachMail, a 20-year-old email SaaS that had seen better days. Went to work untangling everything keeping it from making money. Had it profitable again in under a year. Sold it 19 months after taking over.
Stayed on through the handoff, then took a mini sabbatical for a few months. (My first real break in over a decade!) Now figuring out what's next.

Freelancer Feed
Custom job-post alerts for Upwork.
Upwork killed a feature I liked, so my brother and I built our own. Grew it to several hundred users. We both got too busy on other things and shut it down.
First Time Managers
A Slack community for new managers.
Couldn't find one when I needed it, so I started it myself. Met some interesting people and learned I hated moderating a community. lol.
Personal
When I'm not working.
I row crew competitively and get to start my days with sunrises like this.
My entire family are diehard Ohio State football fans and I'm no better. O-H!
I love to read. Mostly just fun stuff, but I've been slowly working through this "100 books to read before you die" list for years. More than halfway now!
I ride my road bike. I'd love to ride from LA to San Diego someday. Too scared of getting hit by a car.
